By visiting or using NewsProceed.org (“Site”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. These Terms apply to all visitors, readers, newsletter subscribers, and donors.

2. About NewsProceed

NewsProceed.org is an independent news publication based in Asheville, North Carolina. It operates as a non-commercial, reader-supported journalism project. Our goal is to provide accurate, fair, and locally relevant reporting on matters of public interest in Western North Carolina.

3. Content and Copyright

All articles, photographs, graphics, video, and other content published on NewsProceed.org are the intellectual property of NewsProceed or its contributing journalists and photographers, unless otherwise noted.

  • You may share links to our articles freely across social media, email, or other platforms.
  • You may quote up to 150 words from any article with proper attribution (including author name and a link back to the original).
  • You may not reproduce full articles, publish our content on another website, or use our reporting for commercial purposes without prior written permission.

4. Accuracy and Editorial Standards

We strive to publish accurate, fairly reported journalism. When errors occur, we correct them promptly and transparently. If you believe we've made a factual error, please contact us at our contact page. We review all correction requests carefully.

Opinion pieces and columns reflect the views of their individual authors and do not necessarily represent the editorial position of NewsProceed.

5. User-Submitted Content

When you submit a letter, tip, comment, or other content to NewsProceed, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to publish, edit, and use that content on the Site and in our newsletter. You represent that you own or have rights to any content you submit and that it does not violate anyone else's rights.

We reserve the right to edit submissions for length, clarity, and factual accuracy, and to decline publication of any submission at our discretion.

6. Newsletter and Email Communications

By subscribing to our newsletter, you consent to receive regular email updates from NewsProceed. Every email includes an unsubscribe link. Processing opt-outs may take up to 7 days. We do not send spam. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your email address.

7. Donations and Financial Support

Donations made through this Site support independent journalism and are generally non-refundable. NewsProceed is not a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit; donations are not tax-deductible unless otherwise stated at the time of contribution. We are transparent about how reader support is used and publish annual funding disclosures.

8. No Warranties

The Site and its content are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses. Use of the Site is at your own risk.

9. Limitation of Liability

NewsProceed shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site or reliance on any content published here. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed $100.

10. Third-Party Links

Our articles may link to external websites for context or attribution. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or accuracy. Linking does not imply endorsement.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Site shall be resolved in the courts of Buncombe County, North Carolina.
